Week of Inspirational Maths

This week in maths we have been taking part in Jo Boaler’s week of inspirational maths. We have explored growth mindsets and developed our reasoning skills through a variety of interesting investigations.

We explored visuals in maths and sought patterns and number sequences in images.

The children used their reasoning skills by playing the role of persuaders and skeptics. Drawing on their knowledge of shape, area and fractions, the children had to convince their partner that they had made a shape with a fraction of the area of the original paper.

The children played the role of pattern seekers using Pascal’s Triangle. They were particularly interested in the mathematical patterns we find in nature!
